Jenny Holzer

When I woke up this morning I immediatly had to think about a work of Jenny Holzer at Times Square. The reason for this is not that I am a fanatic art lover or so(maybe a little) but the dream I had, about shoes, clothes, the common stuff. This work of hers sais: "Protect me from what I want." I didn't remember who made it so I tracked it at google. When I knew who she was again, I descided to share it with you all. This is because my blog normally is about things I like, things I want, art and that kind of stuff. This tells me not to want everything.

The work at times square is a projection that looks like an add. Normally, adds tell you about all the things that you ABSOLUTELY want, need or like. This add tells you not to. This is what I like so much about this work.

Jenny Holzer is an conceptual artist, this means that the thought in the work of art is more important than the beauty of it. A conceptual artpeace doesn't have to be beautiful. Jenny Holzer makes you think about something. Not only because her works consist an unnerving statements, but also because you can't deny it, you can't avoid them because, well, they're just there. In the subway, in the streets, everywhere, and you just see them. Her works are meant to stay in your mind during your day so that you figure it out later, as I did this morning.

Banksy is a British street artist. He works illegal and anonymous. He makes ironic wall paintings with a deeper purpose, for example about politics. At home he prepares templates so that he can work very fast and won't get cought. The statements are mostly anti-war, anti-capitalistic, anti-establishment and pro freedom. He is genious. He doesn't only bring you a message, he also makes people laugh.

He likes to nag the police a bit. Once he made a stamp that told people the wall which it was on was a graffiti area. Facing the police station. A couple of days later the whole wall was filled with graffiti.

He also drew the Palestinian wall up.(look at last picture)  And he put his own art in museums. Google his name. He is amazing. And my new hero..:')

Ladies Run

The 10th of June is the date: the 'Ladies Run' will take place again. Ladies Run is an annual running event in Rotterdam. The profit of this event will be donated to Stichting Pink Ribbon. Pink Ribbon is a fund-raising organisation that asks attention for breast cancer. The organisation strives for the decreasing of patients, to encourage early diagnoses and to improve the care for patients and their fellows.

The previous year, over 6.000 women ran the Ladies Run. This year I'll join!

Street sellers

A couple of days ago I went to Rotterdam to do some shopping(off course..^^) and I found that I am the perfect victim for street sellers. There were many of them and they all stepped into me. Sometimes it helps to tell them that I am not eightteen yet, other times I get runned over by information of something I don't want, don't need and don't need information about.

During my stay in Egypt many people tried to sell me something. Or they tried to buy me but that's a whole different story^^. I am just wondering WHY they allways keep going whenever I say I don't need it. I mean, I have never ever bought anything that I didn't want in the first place, but suddenly needed when someone came after me to tell me I did really like it.

Marina Abramovic: Limitless

In school I follow art lessons and my teacher told me about a woman named Marina Abramovic. I think she is amazing. And a bit crazy. I'll explain.
She does this kind of experiments, she makes herself part of the work of art. She ís art, it's yours to descide what you do with it. She has coöperated with Ulay, a similar artist. In their coöperation they created 'artworks' with them in it.In anything they did, Ulay and Abramovic taxed their physical or mental endurance.  Once they stood in the door opening of the hall of a museum. Naked. All of the people had to pass them. But who will you face? They give you pure art; something you'll think about. An experience, something special.

Violent lipps

While surfing on the internet I found a site( that sells tattoos for your lips. It is amazing and I had no idea that it even existed.

So I looked further and there are many different kinds of lip tattoos. As I might believe   from youtube, it's very easy to apply so I might just go and try it.

Volkswagen Commercial

AAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahw just saw this commercial:

My Pride: The best part;)

My Pride

In art class I got a very free command. I was asked to choose a subject to make at least five artpieces of. It should be something industrial so animals or fruits was not to be chosen. The materials allowed to be used were pen and ink, (color)pencil and waterpaint(?). But I am someone that can draw for example ONE bag and maybe two but then my interest is lost because I am constantly doing the same thing and I hate that. So I thought for a very long time and(also because I like drawing people) chose fashion illustrations. In this way I could draw anything I like and use any material I wanted. And actually, the results are very nice so I am proud of myself.

The giggles

There are many things you can do to disturb teachers. You could throw things through class, or keep playing with your mobile phone, but the best is getting the giggles. There is nothing that makes teachers as mad as other people laughing at them while they're trying to (orde houden) in class. In fact you're laughing in their face and it makes them feel like losers.
The bad thing about having the giggles is that there is no way to stop it. Especially not when you're not the only one. When something unexpected happens and you get the giggles with someone else there's no stopping it. No matter how hard you try, just look at the other person and you'll start all over again. Or make a sound, he'll start again and you won't be able to stay seriously. That's why it's the best way to get teachers(and other people too, by the way) irritated, they don't have any grip on it. So if you want to get the devil out of someone, just laugh in his face, HAHA!

I am guilty. I admit it. I am neglecting this blog. And the fact that I am in a bus in Egypt now doesn't change a thing about that. Except for the short of internet off course. I've seen such amazing things in Egypt so I'll make it up with you as soon as I get home(that'll be in 24 hours). I'll show you all the great things here in Egypt and the inspiration I found here for my style. Things are so different here. But just wait a bit longer and you'll see.

Party difficulties

This weekend I met a lot of new people when I went to two parties where I didn't know anybody. Then I realised how difficult that is. It started as soon as people introduce theirselves to each other. I NEVER EVER know what people are going to do. Are they going to kiss me or are they just giving me a handshake? Sometimes people reach out their hand and you might think they're going to give you a handshake but they suddenly hugg you so your hand gets stuck between you and the other person, or if they're just giving you a greeting by saying their names and your hand is hanging in the open space between you. Awkward..

Summer is coming up

I've been away too long^^

I haven't been writing for a while now because of my tests week(don't ask) and it's not over yet so prepare..-.-' Never EVER think you're done as the week that you're making tests is over because teachers always make up something new to keep you buisy. And the tests week was done in the middle of the week but NOOOOO we didn't get a few days off or so, we're just doing the next chapter.

It ended at whednesday so that afternoon I went shopping and now I have seen so much things that I actually just NEED to have. So now I have 3 new pants, 2 shorts, 2 shirts and two pairs of earrings. And I want even more t-shirts and a new bag, leave that aside. I'll leave photos of it later. I need to do a lot more stuff but I couldn't ignore my lovely little bloggie any longer so I'll just post some little things.

Another thing I hate: now that my tests week has ended, it took the nice weather with it. So all the time that I have been learning for my tests, the weather has been lovely, but now they say it's going to be freezing again!!#FML

Prevent scripting? What the..?!

God I'm mad. Half an hour ago I wanted to look at a reply someone had left for me so I went to see my page. It doesn't open properly because my computer is afraid of scripting or shit. Jesus, for two fucking months: no problem but now it suddenly thinks my page is going to 'script'? I hate it when my computer makes up things itself and lets me fix it myself..

Crashing computers drive me crazy..

The Worst

You might have read the blog message below, and it actually proves how goddamn I hate those jogging suits and how much I want to look good. As I am looking on those sport sites and stuff I immediatly see things that would look good if you wouldn't wear it as a sports item but in combination with a casual t-shirt or jeans. I found a legging that would look amazing with just an black t-shirt or something above it, and good heels under it, and a t- shirt from Adidas which could be easily combined with a black legging or nice jeans.

This proves I do feel better in something that shapes my body, hahaha. I'm the worst.. ^^

Jogging suits

Recently, someone asked me if I ever wear a jogging suit. I don't. I don't even have one. He told me how much he enjoyed wearing them when he had an off day. He also asked me why. Well, because I feel very unwomanly(what a stupid word) when I wear one. If I have an off day, I wear a jeans with a t- shirt I once bought but never actually wear, or something in that direction. He told me that there are many goodlooking jogging suits. Well, I've never ever seen one I like, or even considered buying one.

The sweaters aren't even the problem, there are many jogging sweaters that I love but I just hate the shape of the matching pants.
Off course, there are nice workout clothes... But seriously, those are meant for working out, not for hanging out. When I wear those jogging suits I can't see the round shapes of my body anywhere. And I love woman who work their shape, so that's my style. Hey, I'm open for new things, but I don't believe I'll ever find one I like. I've been looking for it, Doutzen Kroes has her own collection: Repeat by Doutzen, designed for Repeat Cashmere.

So I got some reactions from people all over the world, people telling me I got such a nice blog(thank you so much, I love hearing it). Then I realized writing in Dutch is very fumbling because only about 17 million people, no, less than 17 million of the 7 billion people in the world can read it. So I descided I might as well try to make myself clear in English. Please forgive me because I don't speak very good English or so but I hope you will understand my next posts.
